I get the box with my GoalZero Yeti 1000 Lithium battery in it and I excitedly open it! The advertisement for it had not said anything about Open Box items being incomplete in their contents. I get the battery out of the box. I open the lid to the storage compartment. Inside, I find the plastic bag, the twisty tie, and the prong protector for the wall charger cord…but where is the wall charger cord? I looked everywhere! There were two items listed on the contents of the box: battery and charging cord. There was no charging cord. They left out fully 50% of the product, and what good is a battery that you can’t charge?! Yes, it uses solar power to charge, but it’s also supposed to have a wall charger!!! I’m so angry. I got on the GoalZero site and wrote Customer Service an e-mail telling them that they’d better see about getting me a wall charger at their earliest opportunity because I’m pretty sure that’s covered under the 6-month warranty that comes with this “Open Box” (ie. “Missing Pieces”) product. It was a fitting end to an extremely frustrating day, I guess. We’ll see what they have to say. I went and found the charger I need on their site and it’s $50 plus $9 shipping. Hopefully the only thing wrong with it is that it’s missing the wall charger. I’m going to test it out thoroughly at my earliest opportunity to make sure it works right in every way, shape, and form so that I can call them on their warranty if something goes wrong before that six months is up!!! I don’t like getting upset about things, but it’s really frustrating when you’re so excited about getting something like this that could totally change your world in terms of being able to take longer climbing trips and go climbing for multiple days at a time and then only get half of the product in the box!!! This is a game-changer for me. I want to be able to use it!!! The nice part about it is that you can be charging it simultaneously with solar and the wall charger…if you have a wall charger. I have an inverter built into my truck, so this setup would work perfectly!!! I just have to get the cord that goes from the adapter to the AC outlet!!! What tops this off as a frustration and turns it into anger is the fact that the packaging material for that missing cord is all there!!! They literally didn’t even take the packaging material for the cord. Just. The. Cord. Aaaaaaack!!!
Content Rating PG, for the most part
I try to keep the content of my posts in the PG range (meaning that maybe your 13-year-old should not read it... Just kidding!) - you know, something I could get away with tastefully in the town square without getting lynched, tarred-and-feathered, or hung (and something my mother would NOT wash my mouth out with soap for). As far as what age you have to be to understand some of the subtleties of my humor in writing and/or speaking, well... That may vary. A lot.
