My doctor convinced me that it was time to go back to climbing since I’m fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have been depressed as all get out for the last year (since I haven’t been able to climb). So far, the Doc has called me every day to check on me and offer some motivation and accountability in this process of getting back into the groove. I’m eternally grateful to him for that.
Getting used to my climbing shoes again has been a challenge, as has my surprising lack of strength and stamina. Losing some weight will help with those aspects, as well as taking it slow and giving myself time to re-acclimate to my passion in life. After a year of not climbing, my right ankle and left wrist (both old injuries) are really giving me fits, but that’ll work itself out. In some ways, I feel like I’m starting from scratch, but my technique and form are still very good, so I’m going to focus on honing those while building myself back up.
In short, it’s great to be back! I look forward to better times to come and am excited about my return to climbing and writing about my adventures, among other things! I have missed writing my blog, and I appreciate all who have stuck with me this last year! May this be the best year ever!
