I learned something new on the news

I learned something new on the news this morning. That doesn’t mean that it enriched my life or made me a better person. It was rather interesting and somewhat shocking to me, though. Here it is: Did you know that 46 states have “revenge porn” laws? First of all, what on earth is “revenge porn”? Second of all, obviously it’s a big problem if 46 of the 50 states in the union have laws against it. Third, I guess there are actual anonymous websites that allow this type of activity, whatever it is. And you know what? Though it’s shocking and news to me, I have absolutely no desire to know any more about it because I think that people need to talk about their problems instead of engaging in something as odd as “revenge porn” or fist fights. They both fall into the same category as far as I’m concerned. I think that people need to find more constructive and less destructive ways to engage one another when they have misunderstandings and disagreements. If, I would add, you have put yourself in a position to have “revenge porn” used against you, I would say you need to rethink your conduct in society. We need to behave ourselves, don’t you think? I want you to think to yourself when you have a decision to make about how you’re going to act, “What would the person that I respect most in the world think if they saw me doing this/heard me saying this/heard me thinking this? Is this something they would be proud of me for? Is this something they would approve of? Would it embarrass them? Would they want to acknowledge that they know you in public or in front of the person that they most respect based on your conduct?” I doubt that “revenge porn” would get anyone an award for good citizenship. Enough said.
