I have been writing what I think is pretty good fiction dialogue for my book in the last few days. I like dialogue because you can imagine your own character from it while gaining information about the plot at the same time. You can actually hear the characters through dialogue, and know what type of characters they are to a point. I believe I’ve found my voice through writing this blog and I’m grateful to all of you who, for one reason or another, have either visited, subscribed to follow me, or both. Without you, I would not be where I am in this writing process. I must admit that I do love writing, and I’ve been afraid to attempt my own fiction simply because I never thought that I could have my own voice, but this blog and my readers’ responses have proven to me that I can and do have my own voice! You have no idea how much that excites me! To have my own voice, and to create my own characters and to come up with a way to create conflict and fashion a plot and stitch it all together into a coherent and page-turning fictional story that tells a real truth or truths about something important – that it have a message – will be an attainable dream come true for me! Hopefully, I can get something published someday!
What I may begin doing is posting excerpts from my books and short stories on this site for you to review and comment on, which would help me immensely. What do you think? I think it’s a smashing idea! Once I have a bit more material, I’ll post some of it so that you can see what I’m doing and respond. And please DO RESPOND! Take the extra few minutes to leave me some feedback because I can’t get better or fix things if I don’t have any input. Open forum feedback is the best, I believe, because you, my readers, like my style or you wouldn’t read my blog, right? Therefore, YOU are in the best position to guide me through some of the beginner muck and on to better writing!
