I’m doing everything I can to try to get my wrist and thumb rehabilitated so that I can get back to climbing! Today, I picked up a three-pack of Metolius GripSaver Plus grip strengtheners for $39.
Only the two that I can do anything with are shown, because the third one is definitely extremely firm! The purple one on the left is what I’m working on with my left hand (the injured one), and I’m going to start working on the red one on the right with my right hand. Hopefully, I can get my grip levels up fairly high with these two and then move on to the firmest of the three (not shown) with both hands when that time comes. My left hand, wrist, and thumb, are extremely weak, and I can hardly do anything with even the weakest of the three grip strengtheners, but that’s what they’re for. I do what I can and if I keep at it, I’ll be able to do more and more. This is a process, even though I’d like it to be instantaneous… I have to remind myself not to get frustrated and to be patient. Not my strong suit right now, but I’m learning. I’m going to start keeping a journal of pain levels, repetitions, exercises, and all that I put into rehab so that I can see progress. Yes, I’m even going to graph it, and record some footage of it, too, for referene. All I can say is that I hope this never happens again!
