Chaos at the climbing gym

The kids that come in for the after school program are insanely wild. Following the rules and obeying what the adults tell them to do – or not to do – is a losing proposition. I walked into the gym this afternoon and saw Brian! It was so good to see him! He has started coming to the climbing gym on Monday and Wednesday nights now that Steep Team is coming in on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Brian was just chilling in his work clothes, waiting for the kids to clear out. There were a lot of them!

I went upstairs to see the reset of the upper bouldering wall. Some of the comments were that none of the problems flowed, and some didn’t even make sense. I overheard some comments about the main bouldering wall, too, to the effect that they need some new problems. I fear that the setting situation may be dire, but I keep to myself about it. I would help, but I haven’t been invited to, so I don’t. I’m injured at the moment, anyway… I hope they get some decent setters soon. A few show some promise, but they need a lot more practice!

It felt good to be amongst my tribe mates. Just the atmosphere itself was healing to a degree. I’m very thankful for climbing, even when I can’t climb!
