I have listened to a great many people share their excitement and enthusiasm and stories about their passions, A-Z, for many years. Part of my family that lives in Arizona (I live in Montana) is coming to visit in a few days and I asked my doctor how I should best handle it because the main point of the visit is the baby. In case you’re unaware, I can only be interested in babies for a maximum of 7-10 minutes at a time and that’s only if they’re doing something interesting, like trying to chew on a cat’s tail or something. My sister-in-law is due to have her baby any time in the next three weeks, too, so there’s bound to be plenty of baby talk going around for the entirety of their stay. It’s not that I don’t love these people. It’s a matter of talking about passions, and mine isn’t babies. I don’t do well with giant femme-fests, either. My passion is climbing! The Doc said to share my excitement about climbing with them and show them my blog. Now, if I show them my blog, they’re likely going to read this and I don’t want them to be offended. So don’t be offended. I’m just being honest and I love you, anyway. It’s perfectly okay for your passion to be babies. It’s just not my thing.
Now, let’s talk about rock climbing!!! I’ll start out by showing you the photo of me inverted after my first lead fall – yes, the one I posted on my blog! Then I’ll show you photos of some of the routes I’ve set in the bouldering gym and how that works! After that, I’ll talk about all the places I like to go climbing and why, explain what the different holds and techniques are, expound upon the different gear available and what I use and what I use it for, defend my passion because I know you’re going to think I’m even crazier than you initially thought possible, and end on a high note by telling you that I’m going to do this for the rest of my life!!! Beyond that, I’m taking questions during my post-presentation Q&A session. Sound good? Let’s begin!!!
